HOW IT ALL BEGAN

I opened the Tasting Room in 2003 with my sister in law, Emily, and we were always looking for ways to get people to notice our tiny 900sft wine shop/wine bar in the new Uptown Park Center. So, we dreamed up the idea of creating Houston’s own Food and Wine Festival. We supplied the food and wine, hired a band and threw a party.

Over the years, this event developed into the most talked-about wine and food party in Houston, with thousands of attendees, chef competitions, live music, and of course a lot of great wine. This year, we’ll have over 100 wines to sample and enjoy as well as cigars, beers, whiskeys, tequilas, and much more. We’ll be celebrating the event’s 15th anniversary (we missed a year due to Hurricane Harvey)! Best of all, it’s for a good cause.

The Houston Cellar Classic Food and Wine Festival partners with Genesys Works in making a significant impact in the lives of high school students, effectively breaking the cycle of poverty in underserved neighborhoods in Houston.

My wife Laura and I are proud to partner with Genesys Works again this year to host this incredible event and raise money for a worthy cause. As a board member the past two years, I’ve seen first-hand the incredible difference that Genesys Works makes in the lives of Houston-area high school kids, effectively breaking the cycle of poverty in underserved neighborhoods in Houston. Last year, we raised almost $100,000 for Genesys Works, and this year—with your support—we look forward to beating that mark. Please come out with your friends and co-workers to celebrate together with us and enjoy amazing wine, food, music and company while making an incredibly positive impact on our community. Laura and I look forward to seeing you there!

Cheers!
